Palace on Wheels
Recreating
a journey that is reminiscent of the erstwhile royalty, Palace on
Wheels will please you with its ambience, luxury and grandeur as
it meanders its way through the land of Maharajas. The train has
come to symbolize the very best of luxury and it has already attained
the status of a legend. The train has 14 coaches named after fourteen
Rajput states. The decor of the coaches match the royal style of
yore and the interior is aesthetically done up. Each of the saloons
has a mini pantry and a lounge where the passengers will get both
hot and cold beverages and an opportunity to make acquaintance with
other passengers on board.
The
coach has a total of 14 fully air conditioned deluxe saloons and
each of these has a combination of 4 twin bedded chambers with channel
music, intercom and beautiful furniture with inlaid motifs. There
are two fantastic restaurants in the train called "The Maharaja"
and "The Maharani". You will simply fall in love with
both of them. The menu is always very special and the taste of the
food is so good that you will simply crave for more. The food that
is served varies from continental and Chinese to Indian and Rajasthani.
The train has a well stocked bar and you will get some of the finest
liquors here. The coaches also offer well stocked library so that
you will not feel bored under any circumstances.
The facilities provided by the train will match
or even exceed facilities provided by many five star hotels. The
train is a fine mix of the traditional and the contemporary. There
is almost all the amenities available that you may think of. Palace

Destinations Covered By Palace On Wheels
Day 1 Wednesday (Reporting time: 16:00hrs - Departure
time: 18:30hrs)
Perhaps
the best journey that you will ever undertake in your life, begins
at the Delhi Cantonment station where you will be received with special
welcome. The Palace on Wheels then pulls out for an enchanting journey
through some of the most beautiful places on earth.
Day 2 Thursday (Arrival: 02:00hrs - Departure:
19.30hrs)
Jaipur
Palace
on Wheels first stops at the beautiful city of Jaipur. Popularly
called the pink city, because of the color of the palaces, forts
and other historical monuments built by the erstwhile rulers, Jaipur
is a remarkable city with plenty of tourist attractions. There will
be an air conditioned coach waiting to take you to some of the most
popular tourist destinations. Some of the places that you will see
is the famous Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Wind, Amber Fort, Rajasthali-
the Government of Rajasthan's emporium where handicrafts are sold.
You will enjoy a sumptuous lunch at a palace hotel and then visit
the City Palace where the erstwhile royal family lived. Opposite
the road is the Jantar Mantar, the largest observatory built by
Sawai Jai Singh II. You will be taken back to Palace on Wheels around
6:30pm. You can enjoy the dinner on board the train.
Day 3 Friday (Arrival: 08:15hrs - Departure: 23:00hrs)
Jaisalmer
Right
at the heart of the Thar Desert, the desert city of Jaisalmer has
developed into a booming tourism hot-spot. Towering magnificently
over the city, you will be fascinated to see the painstakingly latticed
havelies and mansions with grand facade. Nathmalji-ki-haveli, Patwon-ki-haveli
and Salim Singh-ki-haveli are some of the monuments that are fine
examples of the stone carver’s skill of the time. There is
also a Government Emporium here and you can shop for some of the
finest artifacts here. You will have your lunch on board and go
for a camel ride on the dunes. Sip a refreshing cup of coffee and
enjoy culture programs at a hotel in Jaisalmer. After the cultural
programs are over, you will be taken back to the train and it will
roll out of this wonderful desert city in the night.
Day 4 Saturday (Arrival: 07:00hrs - Departure: 15:30hrs)
Jodhpur
At the break of the day the train pulls in to the city of Jodhpur.
The city is encompassed by ringed stone wall and seven gates. It
has several bastions too. Built by Rao Jodha, the city is famous
for Meherangarh Fort. After lunch at a fascinating palace hotel
you can come back to Palace on Wheels. While at Jodhpur, make sure
that you do not miss out on the exquisite handicraft articles that
is quite famous.
Day 5 Sunday (Arrival: 04:00hrs - Departure: 10:30hrs)
Sawai
Madhopur
As Palace on Wheels nears Sawai Madhopur, you will definitely feel
that there is a wild nature around you. After a fine breakfast,
you will be taken for a tour of the Ranthambhor National Park. You
will be truly amazed to see a 10th century fort amidst this dense
forests frequented by tigers. This is a wild life photographers
paradise and if you can get a snap of the gorgeous animals in black
and yellow stripes, you can consider that your day is made. Other
than the tigers there are hyenas, jackal and foxes. There are over
300 species of birds. The next destination is Chittaurgarh.
Day 5 Sunday (Arrival: 16:00hrs)
Chittaurgarh
After a sumptuous lunch on board the luxury train, you will be amazed
to see the fascinating beauty of Chittaurgarh Fort. This was once
the place where men stood the test of strength, courage and patriotism.
The fort still bears the scar of battles fought long ago. From Chittaurgarh,
you move on to the beautiful city of Udaipur.
Day 6 Monday (Departure: 20:00hrs from Chittaurgarh)
Udaipur
The city was founded by the king of Mewar, Udai Singh. Popularly
called the city of lakes, the city is arguably one of the most beautiful
of all the Rajasthani cities. You will visit the beautiful and blue
Lake Pichola. Have a fine lunch at the city palace hotel and then
you will be brought back to Chittaurgarh. Back on the Palace on
Wheels, you are on your way to Bharatpur.
Day 7 Tuesday (Arrival: 06:30hrs - Departure: 11:45hrs)
Bharatpur
At Bharatpur, you will have the opportunity to visit the Keoladeo
Ghanna National Park. This is the place where you can see some of
the rarest species of birds. After breakfast visit this beautiful
place and enjoy watching the birds flying by. The train leaves Bharatpur
just before mid-day.
Day 7 Tuesday (Arrival: 14:30hrs - Departure: 23:00hrs)
Agra
After arriving at Agra, head straight for the Mughal palatial complex
made of red sandstone at Fatehpur Sikri. Built by emperor Akbar
the place was actually a mosque. After lunch you will be taken to
the wonderful Taj Mahal. The leather goods and jewelry of Agra
is very special and you can buy a few interesting objects. You will have the dinner on board and you can sleep
well with the expectation to see Delhi again. At 6:00hrs in the
morning, the train chugs back to the Delhi cantonment railway station and your dream
tour has finally come to an end.
