Kanha National Park
This national park, located in the central Indian
state of Madhya Pradesh, is home to a large number of animals of
different species. Of all the wildlife parks in the country, this
is arguably the finest. Spread over an area of more than 940 sq
km, the park provides shelter to more than 22 different species
of mammals and more than 200 species of birds. This is a paradise
for a wild life photographers or naturalists. At the Kanha National
Park in the year 1974, Project Tiger was launched.
Today, the forest
not only has a handsome number of tigers but also a sizable number
of chital, nilgai, gaur and wild pig among other animals. This is
just the perfect place for viewing the predator and the prey.
This
was the forest that was inspirational in Rudyard Kipling's unforgettable classic, "Jungle Book". A tour of Kanha is surely
going to provide you with unforgettable memories. If you are in
love with nature and the freedom of wilderness appeals to you, you
can observe the sights and sounds of the jungle from an elephant's
back. From Kanha you can take some pain to visit Bandhavgarh National
Park where you can get a glimpse of the white tigers of Rewa.
If you are planning to visit the park make sure
that you get there either between April and June or between November and
January. The airport nearest to Kanha is Nagpur Airport. From Nagpur,
Kanha is reachable by bus or taxi. The nearest railway station is
Jabalpur. The beauty of this untampered wilderness is surely going to
please you. If you have not seen a langur or a waterfowl, there
is always a possibility that you will see it here.
