Beaches of Kerala

Kerala, located on the South of India, has a long and jagged coastline. Kerala is blessed with some of the best beaches in India. Varkala Beach 

There is a popular belief that the holy beach can purify a person by destroying the sins. The narrow winding roads that leads away from the town to the sea beach is flanked by palm trees and wavy paddy fields. There are also quite a few springs gushing out of these cliffs. The medicinal property of this mineral water can hardly be denied. This is the place where visitors gather to pay homage to a popular saint and social reformer of Kerala, Sree Narayana Guru. 

Alleppey Beach

This is a long sandy and spectacular beach with palm groves that are both dense and beautiful. If you are very active and want some real fun and frolic in the sea, jump into the water and ride the waves. You will definitely love it. If you want to enjoy a laidback type of a holiday, then all that you need to do is sit back on the sandy beach and relax while the relentless sea lash he coast. 

Kappad Beach

Kappad beach has a bit of history associated with it. It was in the year 1498, that the famous explorer Vasco da Gama discovered the sea rout to India and landed here with three vessels. It can be said that the beach is the witness to that epoch making event that turned the destiny of India. 

Bekal Beach

You will find this beautiful beach in the old-fashioned little town of Kasargode which is about 150 km north of Calicut, modern day Kozhikode. This fishing village has a wonderful beach with rows of palm and large forts. The view from the fort is simply breathtaking and you must make it a point to visit this beautiful place if you wish to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

Shanghumugham Beach

Shanghumugham beach lies very much near the airport. There is an indoor recreation club and a star shaped restaurant are some of the facilities that you will get in the beach.
